Define Package sniffing

PACKAGE SNIFFING
Reading packets on the network that are not intended for you. Because, of the way the Ethernet protocol works, it is possible to configure your machine so that is listen for packets that are intended for someone else, or that are from other computers on your same local network. By, doing this, you can watch any text they are sending "in car cleaner" to send their name and password in the clear.
